Biography

As a graduate from Exeter University, Kirsty commenced her teaching career in Hayes School, Bromley before moving up the career ladder at Longford Community School in Feltham.

From Head of Girls’ PE, Kirsty became Head of Department and concluded her time there as Professional Tutor. Following a short career break and trip around the world, Kirsty became a Senior Lecturer at St Mary's University on the BA (Hons) ITE Physical Education four year undergraduate degree. As Programme Co-ordinator, Kirsty facilitated the final years of the undergraduate degree and is now in her 10th year as subject / course leader for the Secondary PGCE PE course.

Kirsty completed her MA in 2010, having undertaken an action research project concerned with the facilitation of creative and innovative pedagogical application. In her continuous drive and ambition to better her own and her students' practice, Kirsty worked collaboratively with her year two cohort to place creativity and innovation as a central feature in their pedagogical development and understanding. Her research plays a key part in the design and delivery of the PGCE PE course.

Kirsty is a proactive member of the London Regional Association for Physical Education (AfPE) and has been appointed as a member of the England Handball Workforce Advisory group.
