The Erasmus+ programme
St Mary’s participates in the EU’s Erasmus+ programme. If you are a student at one of our partner universities, you can study with us on an exchange basis, which means that you are exempt from paying tuition fees to St Mary’s. In order for you to study with us as an Erasmus student, we need to have an inter-institutional agreement in place with your home university.
You will either study with us for one or two semesters within your programme of study. You may be required to secure your own accommodation, but you will be eligible for the Erasmus grant.
The application process
St Mary’s will only accept you through the Erasmus+ programme if you are studying at one of our partner universities. Before you apply to St Mary’s, please speak with the Erasmus Coordinator at your home university as they must nominate you in accordance with our interinstitutional agreement. After you have been nominated, you will need to apply online. Once you have been accepted to study at St Mary’s, you should follow these next steps.
In order to receive your EU grant, you must follow the steps and fill in all Erasmus+ forms provided by your university.
Brexit and the Erasmus+ programme in the UK
We will continue accepting Erasmus+ applications for 2021-22 and 2022-23. Please keep in mind that Europeans may require visas to study in in the UK after 31 December. Please check the government’s latest guidance for further information.
There is no immediate change to the UK’s participation in the Erasmus+ Programme following the EU referendum result and the UK National Agency will continue to manage and deliver the Programme across the UK.
The UK Government has confirmed that it will underwrite grant agreements for Erasmus+ signed while the UK is still a Member State, even if payments continue beyond the point of the UK’s EU exit date. Please see the UK National Agency’s website for details.
