Biography

Paul is a Senior Lecturer in strength and conditioning and has provided applied sports science support for over 15 years. He previously held roles as the general manager of the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health which is major legacy project following the 2012 Olympics and a clinical lead researcher and head of the Athlete Assessment Unit at Aspetar Sports Medicine Hospital, Qatar.

Paul has also consulted with Olympians, professional, and international athletes in a range of disciplines including football (youth and adult), combat sports, and track and field. Paul is an accredited strength and conditioning coach with both the UKSCA and NSCA.

Paul also won the UK Strength & Conditioning Association ‘coach of the year’ award for Research and Education in 2020.


Research

Research profile

Paul has authored over 120 research publications and numerous book chapters in the fields of sports medicine, science, and strength and conditioning. His research focuses on assessment strategies of lower limb neuromuscular control in both injured and non-injured athletes (youth and adult) and reconditioning strategies to enhance the efficacy of return to performance following injury.
