Kingston is a bustling market town and major shopping district situated on the River Thames. Popular retail stores line the high street and there is a large shopping mall, The Bentall Centre.
Further towards the river, clusters of smaller, boutique shops and coffee bars surround the historic marketplace and town hall. At the other end of the high street, the Rotunda, a local landmark, includes a bowling alley, fitness centre, a 14-screen multiplex cinema, restaurants and bars.
The riverside is a popular attraction, particularly in the summer. A variety of lively bars, restaurants and traditional pubs line the riverfront and, along with the nightclubs in the town centre, create the vibrant nightlife Kingston is known for.
Kingston is also home to the Rose Theatre and several museums and art galleries.
