Welcome to the Faculty of Business and Law

We are a diverse community of staff and students, with close links to our local area as well as extensive global connections. Our expertise spans business, marketing, communications, law, criminology, and politics, and we offer a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and research degrees across these subjects. Our teaching is practice-led and focuses on equipping students for their future careers, with an emphasis on gaining real life experience and developing the skills needed for a fast-changing workplace. Staff have a wealth of practitioner as well as academic experience and bring current industry practice to the classroom. Our research is internationally recognised for influencing social policy and driving change for social good. As a Faculty, we are passionate about creating a positive impact on society, and this underpins all our teaching, research, and knowledge exchange activity.

Our degree programmes

We offer a portfolio of practice-led and research-informed undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Many of our programmes have professional body accreditations, and all enable students to develop key transferable skills that are essential for a modern global business environment.

Our research

The Faculty of Business and Law has two Research Centres, the Bakhita Centre for Research on Slavery, Exploitation and Abuse and the Centre for the Art of Dying Well, which bring together academics across disciplines to deliver world-class research and impact.

The Business and Law Clinic offers a range of opportunities for students to gain real-life experience, working with businesses, industry professionals, and the community.
