Drama St Mary’s offers applicants for BA Acting Pre-UCAS Auditions every Autumn.
When attending any of the university’s undergraduate open events you can sign up to audition for us after the talk. A workshop, an audition and an interview will give you the chance to work with our lecturers, and allow us to get to know you better as an applicant.
The team here will conduct the audition and offer immediate feedback.
If we think the audition is strong enough then we will offer you an unconditional place on one of our actor training programmes.
If you're happy to accept the offer then all you need to do is apply through UCAS to guarantee your place.
If the Drama team think more work needs to be done on the audition before offering a place then they will give you tailored feedback, which will hopefully give the you a better chance of success, whether at St Mary’s or not.
This is not a rejection, but an opportunity to hone audition pieces and make them ready. A substantial proportion of our intake this year came through on a second audition.
About the audition
At Drama St Mary’s we are interested in bringing in the best students that we can, so the onus is on the team to support you as early as possible in your quest to become a professional actor.
If you’d like to take advantage of the Pre-UCAS Auditions, we ask you to prepare a two minute monologue - contemporary or classical. We have no particular requirements for the piece, but make sure to choose a text that you know well (the whole play and not just the section you've chosen), and that you enjoy performing.
At the audition we will also have a brief interview and give you an opportunity to ask questions about the programme.
