Undergraduate degrees offered by the School of Education

The School of Education at St Mary's University offers a range of undergraduate and foundation degrees at Primary and Early Years Foundation Stage levels.

Graduates on our BA Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the BA Primary Education (Work Based) with QTS follow a carefully designed academic and school-based programme to meet the requirements of the Teachers’ Standards as set out by the Department for Education. This leads to high employability rates as Newly Qualified Teachers.

The work-based route to QTS also allows applicants to follow an special educational needs and disability (SEND) specialist pathway, distinctive to programme.

Our Foundation degrees in Early Years Education and Primary Education - Foundation Degree, are particularly suitable for those working in early years and primary school settings. Gradutes of these programmes can go on to study at undergraduate level to gain qualified teacher status.

The Education Studies programme prepares students for work in a range of educational and social care settings in the UK and globally. Graduates from this programme are welcome to apply for PGCE Primary and Secondary ITT programmes in order to become qualified teachers.
