Date: Thursday 3rd November 2016 Developments in Cyber-Neuroethics: An Ethical Appraisal Date: Thursday 3rd November 2016 Time: 6.00pm - 7.30pm Location: St Mary's University, Shannon Room 3 Speaker: Dr Calum MacKellar is a visiting lecturer in Bioethics at St Mary’s University and the Director of Research of the Scottish Council on Human Bioethics which encourages the engagement of Scottish society in this field. Having worked with the Bioethics Division of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, Dr MacKellar has, in addition, extensive experience of international bioethics. With the development of neuroethics which includes the ethical issues originating from advances in neuroscience, a number of very serious questions are beginning to arise relating to the creation of a direct interface or fusion between computers and the human brain as well as between the human mind and cyberspace. In the light of this, the lecture will determine and address the momentous moral issues which are certain to develop in this field of cyber-neuroethics.
