EmpathyLab is a new organisation building on the implications of this research, and exploring how to build children’s empathy and literacy skills simultaneously. EmpathyLab is working with 11 pioneer primary schools on how to harness the power of stories to build empathy, and the power of empathy to make the world a better place. The schools are integrating empathy in their planning, re-focusing existing English work, and trailing programmes like Empathy Oscars. Miranda McKearney OBE is EmpathyLab’s founder, and will be sharing her vision and the practical implications of Empathy’s approach.
