Mediation Analysis: A Practical Introduction

Date:
Wednesday 29th November 2017
Time:
1pm-3pm

Location: Shannon 3

Mediation analysis is used to assess a hypothesised causal chain between three variables. It tests whether one variable affects a second variable through the influence of a third, intervening variable. It applies to a wide range of scenarios that involve three or more quantitative measures, from surveys to experimental methods, from social sciences to biological research.

This two-hour workshop will introduce the three established approaches to test significant mediation, giving concrete examples of the fundamental procedures. It will then guide participants through the techniques to calculate two common measures of its effect size.

The workshop is open to anyone who uses quantitative measures (questionnaires, psychometric tests, physiological indices) and is familiar with correlation and regression techniques in cross-sectional or experimental research.
