The Economic and Social Impact of Mining - a Zambian case study

Speaker: Felix Pole, Co-founder and Chair of CNM Ltd (Consolidated Nickel Mines Ltd)

The talk will discuss the multiple aspects of mining operations, and the fact that, in addition to obtaining government approval, a mine needs to obtain a Social Licence to Operate. The latter is very important given that enormous impact that mining has on the local community, both economically and socially.

The talk will also discuss China's role in African mining, the UN Social Development Goals and the Faith and Mining Initiative.
