Catholic Religious Education: Lessons in Liberation?
Location: Waldegrave Suite, St Mary's University
With degree qualifications in Economics, Philosophy, Theology and post-graduate Biblical Studies Anthony Towey completed his doctoral studies at the Gregorian University on Thomas Aquinas while serving as Academic Tutor at the English College in Rome.
He later led the RE department at Loreto College, Manchester prior to becoming a programme director and then Head of Theology, Philosophy and History at St Mary’s University, Strawberry Hill. Anthony is currently Director of the Aquinas Centre for Theological Literacy and has contributed both to recent reforms in Religious Education at GCSE/A-Level and to the recent Commission for Religious Education convened by the RE Council.
An Ofqual subject expert involved in a variety of research and resourcing initiatives, Anthony is also the editor of The Pastoral Review, a bi-monthly journal dedicated to the furtherance of theological literacy in educational and ministerial contexts.
Registration
The lecture will run from 6-7pm with refreshments served until 8pm.
