St Mary's University, Twickenham is hosting Train to Teach London, organised by Get into Teaching.
This free train to teach event will provide you with a wealth of information on how to get into teaching and how to apply for training in your region.
Don’t miss your opportunity to find out more. Drop in at any time during the event, allowing at least two hours to:
- first attend a presentation on the different teacher training options – these will take place at 11.30am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm
- speak to teaching experts to receive advice on your training options – please check your eligibility for teacher training before coming along to this event
- receive personalised advice on your UCAS application – don’t forget to bring a copy of your personal statement with you
- talk to practising teachers about life in the classroom
- meet representatives from schools and universities that deliver teacher training in your region to find out about their courses and entry requirements

The Number 33 bus stops directly outside St Mary’s University (Hammersmith to Fulwell / Fulwell to Hammersmith).
Bus replacement service
Due to engineering works on the Train line around Twickenham Station, there will be no trains to Strawberry Hill station on Saturday 27th April. Please check journey routes on the Transport for London website.
There are a number of alternative arrangements that will be in place to ensure that you journey is not inconvenienced significantly. For example, Southwestern trains bus replacement services will now stop a few metres from the main entrance of St Mary’s University.
Parking on the St Mary’s University site is limited and cannot be guaranteed. The surrounding areas, close to the university, have residents parking constraints enforced so please use public transport – there are lots of convenient choices:
Travelling from Central London
From Waterloo, travel to Teddington Station. At Teddington Station, Southwestern trains bus replacement service will run every 30 minutes and will stop outside the university. The walk from the station to the University takes 15 minutes. You can also catch a London Transport bus (number 33) to the University from outside Pizza Express (Teddington) – this is a very short walk from the station.
From Waterloo/London Underground: to Richmond Station. Southwestern trains bus replacements that will take you to the university.
R68 bus service from outside Richmond station – bus stop: ‘Michelham Gardens’ which is a short walk to St Mary’s University. In addition, the DfE are also providing some replacement bus services of their own from Richmond station that will take you directly to St Mary’s University.
Southwestern Trains bus replacements will be in operation from Hounslow train station. Our advice is to link with local bus services to Twickenham ie. 281, H22 and transfer to the 33 or R68 bus routes.
