Sherry Weddell, author of Forming Intentional Disciples, first coined the term “Missiondom” to describe the new, cultural landscape we seek to evangelise in the 21st Century. In this keynote, Weddell will explore bold questions about how parishes can prove to be “capable of self-renewal and constant adaptivity” (Evangelii Gaudium, 28), how they can adapt to the new demands, assumptions and rules of “Missiondom”. While numerous programmes of evangelisation promise the renewal of the parish, Weddell will explore the deeper change that is needed: mindsets, culture, language, models. Is the parish still a relevant or effective means of evangelisation?
The evening keynote is the culmination of a one day symposium exploring what the new context of Missiondom means for the parish. Two delegates have been invited from every diocese in England and Wales to this invitation-only symposium.
