Charity trusteeship in the 21st century: get on board
Venue: Shannon Suite 3, St Mary’s University, Twickenhamm TW1 4SX
The Social Enterprise Knowledge Exchange Network (SEKEN) are hosting a free workshop, delivered by Julie Hutchison.
Julie will explore the nature of charity trusteeship in the 21st century. Against a backdrop of unpromising statistics about the age, gender and ethnicity of trustees, Julie sees an emerging and more positive outlook for more diverse charity boards. During the workshop, Julie will reflect on her own experience and point to a pathway to support everyone in taking on a charity trustee role.
Julie is the Founding Editor of The Informed Trustee, an innovative online training course for aspiring charity trustees run by STEP: STEP is a global professional body that equips current and aspiring trustees with the knowledge needed to be successful charity board members.
Julie graduated with a First in Law from the University of Edinburgh and went on to practice law, advising on philanthropy and the creation and management of charities. After six years in a specialist law firm, she moved into financial services and over the last fifteen years with Standard Life Aberdeen plc has held a number of specialist technical roles in law and tax, including time spent in Asia.
Julie was a trustee of the charity Youth Scotland and is currently a Finance Committee member of the Lake District Calvert Trust, a charity which enables outdoor adventure for disabled visitors.
