Join us for an evening of conversation with Prof. Syed Kamall and Sir Robbie Gibb at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, hosted by Rt Hon Ruth Kelly, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Enterprise.
Syed Kamall is Professor of Politics and International Relations at St. Mary’s having previously been a Member of the European Parliament for 14 years, including as chairman of the European Conservatives and Reformists group. Before entering the European Parliament, Syed had a successful career in business and as an academic, specialising in international business strategy.
Sir Robbie Gibb is a former head of BBC Westminster and was in overall charge of the BBC’s political programme output. Prior to joining the political team at Westminster he was deputy editor of BBC Two’s Newsnight. Sir Robbie moved from the BBC after being appointed by Prime Minister Theresa May as Director of Communications at 10 Downing Street in 2017, a role from which he moved on in July 2019.
The event will see Ruth Kelly interview Prof. Kamall and Sir Robbie about topical political issues as well as on their respective careers which have taken them to the highest level in journalism and politics. This will be followed by an opportunity for members of the audience to put their own questions.
