Teacher Training for Careers Changers

The St Mary's University's Institute of Education (IoE) session for Career Changers is a comprehensive introduction to teacher training.

After attending, you will be able to better assess if teacher training could be a possible next step (or future) for you. The event will provide information on the different routes into teaching, how to make an application and the specific challenges that some of career changers experience.

About the event

Our aim is to take you from why you might want to consider a career in teaching, through the different routes into teaching and on to the questions you might be asked at an interview.

We will try to make sure that you have direct access to a number of career changing teacher trainees so that you can find out first-hand what the challenges might be. The event will help prepare you to make an informed decision about teaching and PGCE teacher training courses.

Our aspiration is that the online open evening will provide a comprehensive, accessible and interactive event for anyone thinking about teaching as a possible next step.
