Decolonising the Human Rights Education Curriculum in Gaza, Palestine

This seminar highlights the possibilities to decolonise the Human Rights Education curriculum in Gaza through critical analysis of local textbooks.

Speaker: Dr Nancy Albhaisi 

Nancy is a teacher, drama practitioner and researcher. She started her career in education focusing on teaching English as a foreign language to young refugees at UNRWA schools in Gaza, Palestine. Nancy has five years' experience working as a teacher at UNRWA schools while taking a role as a drama practitioner and researcher in different projects within local institutions in Gaza.

Since then, she has developed a passion for carrying out teaching and research in three main areas; pedagogy, education and social justice, and human rights/human rights education for marginalized groups. Nancy has a PhD in critical discourse analysis of human rights education for young Palestinian refugees.
