Humanitarian Response and the Cluster Approach: The Connect with Education

Date: Monday 22nd March 2021

Time: 6:30pm to 7:30pm

Venue: Online via Zoom

Join Gerard Rebello, a Senior Supply Chain Officer with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). Gerard has been involved in multiple emergencies and has worked in countries such as Afghanistan, Ethiopia and Nigeria.

This is an opportunity to hear first-hand from someone directly involved in an operational response to a global humanitarian crisis.

Walk through the various operational challenges from the onset to the design, implementation and coordination between the multiple stakeholders. You will also hear about the Cluster approach and how it is designed to be effective in an emergency.

The Nobel Peace Prize 2020 was awarded to WFP "for its efforts to combat hunger, for its contribution to bettering conditions for peace in conflict-affected areas and for acting as a driving force in efforts to prevent the use of hunger as a weapon of war and conflict.
