International Student Project

Monday 25th - Thursday 28th October 2021
St Mary's University, Twickenham

This October St Mary's University will host the 8th International Student Project Week - a collaborative project between partner Universities across Europe and beyond.

In 2008 the University College Leuven-Limburg organized the first International Health Week. The objectives were to:

  • provide students who do not participate in international exchanges to develop their international competences;
  • offer international partners an inspiring and vibrant week;
  • strengthen our partner network (national and international);
  • initiate international education and / or research projects.

Students will have the opportunity to work in international teams and contribute towards a creative and innovative project with a focus on "Assessment of nutritional status and eating disorders". In addition to working on this project, students will have the opportunity to learn about their peers and their countries, expand their international network and take part in fun extra-curricular activities!

Throughout the event, students will be working on a specific project in international groups. To successfully complete the project, before the event starts, please explore the topic of eating disorders. Focus on exploring different ways of detecting/assessing eating disorders that are used in your country and also what kind of help is offered to treat these disorders. Try to find out if there are specific government programmes/organisations or any other organisations that are offering help and what sort of programmes are they offering.

A presentation about your country

Students will also be asked to present about their countries on the first day (Monday 25th October). This should be done with other students from your University. Please prepare a 15 minute presentation to discuss:

  1. About your country (what is it famous for, what is it like to live there?)
  2. About your university and degree. How it is to study at your university and how is your nutrition programme structured?
  3. What is the food culture in your country?

Dinner on 25th October

You will have the opportunity to prepare some traditional meals from your country and share them with other students. Please let us know which ingredients you will need and also feel free to bring some traditional food with you.
