What Should We Expect From Politics After Covid?

Date: Saturday 9th October 2021

Time: 7:00pm to 7:00pm

Venue: Cathedral of St John the Baptist, Norwich or online via live-stream

The second ‘Newman Lecture’ of 2021 will be given by Rt Hon Prof Ruth Kelly on ‘What should we expect from politics after Covid?’

Voices from both left and right have argued that the state needs to be bigger to protect us against future crises such as Covid. But are they right? Lessons from Catholic Social Teaching and the Judeo-Christian tradition, as well as the lived experience of the past year, suggests we need to rethink what we want from politicians and what we are prepared to give ourselves.

The lecture takes place at the Cathedral of St John the Baptist, at 7pm, after a special Mass at 6pm which guests are also welcome to attend.

The lecture is also being live-streamed, here, for those of you who cannot attend in person, or who wish to watch from the comfort of your own homes.

All are welcome. No registration is necessary, to attend.

The Newman Lectures are a collaborative project between St Mary’s University and the Diocese of East Anglia. Please visit The Newman Lectures website for previous and upcoming Newman Conversations and Newman Lectures.
