Newman and Literary Studies: a symposium on studying Newman through literature

Date:
Monday 20th - Tuesday 21st February 2023

Scholarship on St John Henry Newman tends to focus on his theology, and occasionally his forays into writing literature – but this two day colloquium strikes a different note: asking how the study of literature informs understandings of Newman’s theology itself.

Join us and a selection of leading Newman specialists working on this intersection of Newman and Literary Studies, including:

  • Professor Michael Hurley (Cambridge University)
  • Dr Francesca Caraceni (Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore)
  • Prof Bernadette Waterman Ward (University of Dallas)
  • Professor Emeritus John Charmley (St Mary’s University)
  • Dr Jacob Phillips (St Mary’s University).

The event will take place 9am-5pm on both days.
