New Beginnings: A Celebration Of Marian Scholarship

Date: Saturday 25th March 2023

Time: 10:00am to 6:00pm

Venue: St Mary's University, N Block Lecture Theatre

On the Feast of the Annunciation, we will formally celebrate the establishment of the Centre for Marian Studies (the CMS) at St Mary’s University, and the new location of the Marian library collection in the crypt of the university chapel.

It will also be the occasion on which the CMS will welcome its first Honorary Fellows: Professor Tina Beattie, Rev. Professor Andrew Louth and Rev. Professor Sir Diarmaid MacCulloch.

They will share their expertise during this one-day conference, alongside Dr Chris Maunder and Dr Sarah Jane Boss, who founded the Centre for Marian Studies in 1995.

We hope as many people as possible will be able to join us for this in-person event but there will also be the opportunity to attend via Zoom.

Programme

10am – 6pm in the N Block Lecture Theatre

Dr Chris Maunder – ‘Mary of the visionaries: Wisdom from the mouths of the “uncultured”’

Rev. Professor Andrew Louth – 'Mary and the Church in Early Christian Theology'
