Due to the current restrictions in place due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, St Mary’s University has taken the difficult decision to postpone all Graduation ceremonies due to take place in Spring 2021.
We understand that this will be disappointing, however our priority must be the safety and welfare of our students and staff. We will only run Graduation ceremonies if it is safe and practicable to do so.
Planning for the July 2021 Graduation Ceremonies is ongoing, subject to advice and guidance from Government and public health officials. We will continue to provide more information as and when it is available.
How will you let me know when my rescheduled graduation ceremony will take place?
We will contact you via your St Mary’s and personal email addresses that are listed in your student record, with further information following updates from the Government. Please make sure your student record lists a personal email address to ensure you receive the updates, as your St Marys account may expire after you have completed your studies.
We will also update information on the St Mary’s University website and will confirm when we have emailed eligible students any update. If you are expecting to graduate and do not receive update emails after this page confirms that eligible students have been contacted, please email email@example.com to check your eligibility and contact details. Please include your student ID in your email to speed up any communication.
Do I have to wait for my graduation ceremony to receive my certificate?
Certificates are being coordinated by Registry Services and are being sent out when your degree results are confirmed. Timelines for receiving your certificate are outlined below:
Full-time undergraduate and foundation students who complete the course in sequence, will receive a certificate in August of the year of completion. Those students who need to re-sit or are part-time, will receive a certificate approximately 6-8 weeks after the exam board their marks are ratified is held.
Postgraduates taught courses
- Full-time postgraduate students who begin the course in September and complete the course in sequence, will receive a certificate in February of the year of completion.
- Full -time postgraduate students who begin the course in January and complete the course in sequence, will receive a certificate in August of the year of completion.
- Due to end dates for part-time postgraduate students varying, these students will receive a certificate 6-8 weeks after the exam board their marks are ratified in is held.
I’ve not received my graduation certificate, what should I do?
Please check the ‘home’ address you provided in your student record in your student portal. If you have not provided an updated address, your certificate may have been sent to an old address.
If you still cannot locate your certificate, contact firstname.lastname@example.org, who will confirm when/where your certificate was posted to, and what options you have to order a replacement certificate.
If you have a question not included in the list please contact email@example.com.
