St Mary’s Strength Named one of the Best in London

The Strength Club at St Mary’s University College has been named one of the best in the capital after securing third in the London Club Powerlifting Champs

St Mary’s Strength Club at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham has been named one of the best in the capital after securing third position in the London Club Powerlifting Championships. St Mary’s Strength Club members Ben Richens, Sid Atkinson and Scott Hobbs all competed at the event, which took place at Bethnal Green Weightlifting Club on Saturday 13th July. The event saw solid performances from all three lifters and there were several personal best lifts on the day. Head of St Mary’s Strength Ben Richens said, “A long, but rewarding first outing for the Powerlifting Team, There were solid performances by Sid Atkinson in his first competition and Scott Hobbs, who miraculously lost about 3kg overnight! We came third behind Bethnal Green and British Barbell but most of all, all team members worked tirelessly to support, encourage and coach each other. Thank you also to Rob Rees who came to coach and our sponsors Sandy’s Fishmongers. Next stop, The All England Championships!” Results from the competition Ben Richens (74kg category)
