The St Mary's Clinic at St Mary’s University, Twickenham is to deliver a series of winter workshops that will provide information and practical advice on marathon training. The St Mary’s Clinic has organised three workshops that will feature advice and information from leading sports experts to help athletes competing at all levels to optimise their performance. The first of the series is on Wednesday 28th January and will be led by Paul Hough, Lead Sport Scientist at The St Mary’s Clinic and lecturer in Health and Exercise Science. Entitled The Physiology of Endurance Running and Training Programme Design, the first part of the workshop will look at what determines performance, training zones and other dominant areas such as lactate threshold and running economy. The second part will focus on structuring training in order to optimise performance. The following workshops will be on Warm Ups, Injury Prevention, and Recovery, which will take place on Wednesday 25th February, while the final workshop, Race Day Preparation, will be delivered on Wednesday 25th March. All sessions start at 7pm at a cost of £10 per individual session or £25 if you want to participate in all three.
