St Mary’s Hosts Annual Wedding Fair with Strawberry Hill House

Couples planning on tying the knot are being invited to the second annual Wedding Showcase at St Mary’s University, Twickenham and neighbouring Strawberry Hill House on Sunday 22^nd February 2015 from 11am-3pm. Following a successful launch last year, the free event is once again returning to the historic venues and offers the ideal opportunity for couples to look at both facilities for wedding ceremonies and receptions. Guests will also be able to meet with photographers, cake makers, local florists, and other wedding services, whilst catwalk models will display the latest bridal fashion from Emma Elizabeth Bridal. Both St Mary’s Grade-I listed Waldegrave Suite and Strawberry Hill House, Horace Walpole’s fairy-tale castle, are a popular choice as a wedding venue for ceremonies and parties. The University’s Waldegrave Drawing Room features ornate high ceilings, stone fireplace and Venetian flooring with the capacity to accommodate 120 guests for a sit down meal and space to invite more guests for the evening celebrations, whilst adjacent rooms provide stunning settings for the dance floor and bar. Next door, the Gallery at Strawberry Hill House is hung with rich crimson damask and has an intricate gold leaf ceiling, providing a unique setting for ceremonies of up to 95 guests. The Round Room is available for more intimate settings and the joint grounds offer perfect photographic opportunities. St Mary’s Events Manager Annie Recuerda said, “Last year’s inaugural event was a fantastic day allowing us to showcase our beautiful Waldegrave Suite and we are planning for an even better day in 2015!” Strawberry Hill Functions Manager Valerie Beard said, "The Wedding Showcase is a special event as it gives couples an ideal opportunity to view Strawberry Hill and meet a number of wedding suppliers that can help them plan their very special day.
