Recent BSc Health, Exercise and Physical Activity graduate from St Mary’s University, Twickenham Emma Hilton has been selected to represent Great Britain at the 20th World Transplant Games.
The bi-annual competition is being held at the end of August in Mar del Plata, Argentina, and will see Emma compete in the 100m, 200m and volleyball events. Emma received a heart transplant at 12 years old in 2002, following sudden heart failure. Sadly Emma developed post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder in 2011 resulting in Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma but managed to represent Great Britain in Durban, South Africa in 2013.
Emma has competed at the British Transplant Games every year since her transplant, winning a Gold medal in her first year, and has competed in the 2007, 2009, 2011, and 2013 editions of the World Transplant Games.
