St Mary's Academic Joins Concussion Research Foundation

Sports Rehabilitation Reader at St Mary’s University, Twickenham Conor Gissane has been appointed as a member of the Scientific Committee in the ICHIRF.

Sports Rehabilitation Reader at St Mary’s University, Twickenham Conor Gissane has been appointed as a member of the Scientific Committee in the International Concussion and Head Injury Research Foundation (ICHIRF). The ICHIRF is a global network of academics that collaborate to progress the study into the long-term effects of concussion in retired athletes from sports including rugby, boxing, football and equestrian sports. The Scientific Committee at the ICHIRF has an oversight and inputs into the research undertaken by the ICHIRF. Members are appointed to provide expertise in all matters relating to concussion research. Speaking of his appointment Conor said, “The invitation is a privilege, research into the long term effects of sports related concussion is vital, and there is potential for the findings from the research to have a major impact on the way concussion injuries in sport are managed.”
