On Sunday 6th September, practitioners from St Mary’s Clinic supported the Richmond Running Festival with post race sport rehabilitation support. The annual event saw more than 4,000 runners taking part in either a 10km or half marathon race around the leafy borough of Richmond-upon-Thames. Physiotherapist Rory Brown, Sports Massage Therapist Ellie Boyce and MSc Sports Rehabilitation student Vicky James were on hand to help runners recover with sports massage, stretching and rehabilitation advice. The St Mary’s Clinic has also been supporting the Richmond Running Festival with a series of training camps hosted at the University’s Strawberry Hill campus. Participants at the training camps took part in runs around local parks before receiving advise from staff at the Clinic on hydration and nutrition, sport psychology, sport rehabilitation and recovery. MSc Sport Rehabilitation student Vicky James said, “it was a great opportunity to support such a fun and successful event. We were really busy all day, which meant I got a lot of hands on experience and got to work in a great atmosphere too!”
