Blog: Heart Health

Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye… In support of British Heart Foundation’s Heart Month, Health and Wellbeing Services at St Mary’s University, Twickenham is urging people to check their heart age using the NHS online tool. It’s fun and interactive but most importantly, it will get you thinking about your general health and wellbeing. Anyone over 30 can use the tool, even if you don't know your blood pressure and cholesterol. However, without these numbers, your result will be an estimate and we recommend you get tested to get an accurate result. It’s well known that an unhealthy or imbalanced lifestyle can lead to certain diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes. But it’s also true that just small significant changes, along with the right support, can improve your health. The Health and Wellbeing Services Healthy Lifestyle Clinic held on Tuesdays: 6-9pm, Wednesdays: 9am-6pm, and Saturdays: 12-3pm, offers two personalised services that aim to educate, support and empower you in making the neccessary changes to improving your overall health and fitness. Why not make this Valentine’s a time to give you and your heart a health check-up!
