The Endurance Performance and Coaching Centre (EPACC) at St Mary’s University, Twickenham hosted an open day on Tuesday 16th February. The open day provided promising young distance runners a unique insight into how studying their chosen subject could be combined with training in a dedicated endurance performance environment to support their athletic development. The day began with a training session on the track coordinated by performance coaches Craig Winrow and Mick Woods, with assistance from former Great Britain marathon runner Mara Yamauchi.  The group was joined by current EPACC athletes, which included international runners Steph Twell, Theo Blundell and Beth Potter. The track session was followed by a campus tour, a talk on University life at St Mary’s and an exciting question and answer session with current EPACC athletes. EPACC Coordinator & Performance Coach Craig Winrow said, “Previous EPACC open days have proved instrumental in promoting St Mary’s and recruiting promising endurance athletes. I hope a number of the athletes who attended are encouraged to combine their academic study with athletic development at St Mary’s.”
