Programme and Centre Director for Irish Studies at St Mary’s University, Twickenham Prof Lance Pettitt will introduce a screening of the film 1916: The Irish Rebellion at London’s Curzon Cinema on Sunday 24th April at 4pm. The weekend will mark the actual centenary of the beginning of the Easter Rising in Dublin, which played out over the following days and whose consequences proved to be decisive in shaping the course of modern Irish history and Anglo-Irish relations. Directed by Pat Collins and Ruan Magan with high production values, expert research and a balanced presentation voiced over by Liam Neeson, 1916 is proving to be setting the standard in screen treatments of this complex set of events. The event is co-organised by the Irish Film Festival London and Bertha DocHouse at the Curzon Bloomsbury, The Brunswick, WC1N 1AW The screening will be introduced with a talk by Professor Lance Pettitt and a post-screening Q&A.
