Image: 27 September 2016 SHARE Senior Lecturer in Bioethics and Medical Law at St Mary’s University, Twickenham Dr Trevor Stammers has been invited to speak at next week’s St Luke’s Chapel and Radcliffe Humanities conference at Oxford University. The conference, entitled Seeking the Welfare of Healthcare Workers, will bring together Britain’s leading academics in Healthcare Ethics to discuss caring for people who work in healthcare. Dr Stammers will deliver a paper in a session on Testimony, Education and the Welfare of Healthcare Workers in the Humanities. Dr Stammers’ paper entitled “The mind had mountains”: A personal account of burnout and beyond will explore his personal experience in medical school training and clinical career. Speaking ahead of the conference Dr Stammers said, "So many healthcare personnel are either leaving the NHS or at breaking point within it. It should not and need not be like this and I feel very privileged to be able to share something of my own experience of 'burnout and beyond' at this important conference exploring how healthcare professionals can look after themselves better in order to provided the best care for their patients.” SHARE
