The Complete University Guide has found that St Mary’s University, Twickenham is the safest university in London. Their annual report found that there were a total of 24.89 criminal incidents on average per 1000 residents in 2016, compared to the London average of 36.97. This ranks St Mary’s the safest university and the third safest higher education institution in London. The data supports the findings of the Metropolitan Police’s Crime Mapping data, which found that Richmond-upon-Thames is the second safest borough behind neighbouring Kingston-upon-Thames in the financial year 2015-16. The findings come in a year that has seen St Mary’s rated London’s top university for security and student experience in the annual Times Higher Education Student Experience survey, amongst three other categories. The University was also ranked as one of Whatuni?’s universities of the year in its annual Student Choice Awards. A spokesperson for St Mary’s said, “We place the student experience at the heart of everything we do and we are delighted to have been ranked as one of London’s safest higher education institutions.”
