St Mary's Academic Joins National Strength and Conditioning Association

Academic from the MSc Strength and Conditioning Science Programme at St Mary’s University, Twickenham Hayley Legg has been appointed as the Provincial Director for Saskatchewan, Canada, in the American National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Hayley's appointment builds on St Mary’s links with the NSCA, which already accredits the Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses at St Mary’s as part of its Education Recognition Program. As part of her appointment Hayley will be responsible for increasing the awareness of the NSCA and promoting strength and conditioning within Saskatchewan. The Strength and Conditioning programmes at St Mary’s have a history of influencing governing bodies. Strength and Conditioning academics Rich Blagrove (2014-2016), Jon Goodwin (2007-2009) and Daniel Cleather (2005-2009) have all served as directors of the UK Strength and Conditioning Association. In addition Dan Baker, who was appointed as adjunct lecturer this summer, is also president of the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association. Speaking of her appointment Hayley said, “This is a great opportunity and a position I am very honoured to be asked to undertake.  There is a lot of potential to grow the NSCA within the province and spread the word of what is available for Strength and Conditioning coaches to develop and engage with their community.” Programme Director for MSc Strength and Conditioning Daniel Cleather said, “These tight links with professional bodies directly feed into student experience and mean that our programmes are informed by relevant and current issues. Faculty staff play an important role in steering the future of the profession.”
