St Mary’s Appoints Distinguished Sport and Exercise Science Professor

The School of Sport, Health and Applied Science (SHAS) at St Mary’s University, Twickenham are pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Mark Williams.

The School of Sport, Health and Applied Science (SHAS) at St Mary’s University, Twickenham are pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Mark Williams.

Professor Williams joins St Mary’s as a Professor of Sport and Exercise Science, and will undertake his role along his substantive work as a Chair of the Department of Health, Kinesiology and Recreation at the University of Utah, USA.

In his role, Professor Williams will make regular visits to the UK to contribute to teaching, postgraduate supervision, research, and assist in the University’s next Research Excellence Framework submission.

Throughout his academic career so far, Professor Williams has published over 170 peer review papers, and he is a regular key note speaker at conferences, as well as being the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Sports Sciences. His previous academic appointments include Head of Life Science at Brunel University and Associate Dean for Research and Innovation, Exercise and Sports Science, within the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney.
