The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 has seen St Mary’s University, Twickenham climb 17 places to sit in its highest position since joining the rankings as a full University in 2014.

The University ranks within the top four universities in London for Teaching Excellence and within the top three London Universities for Student Experience.

The annual ranking, which looks at how universities perform across range of key performance indicators including teaching excellence, graduate outcomes, research output, and student experience, amongst others, saw St Mary’s rank 99 nationally, an improvement from 116th place last year.

Vice-Chancellor of St Mary’s Prof Francis Campbell said, “It is great to see the hard work of the St Mary’s community being recognised in this way. We have invested in improving standards across the University and continuing to provide outstanding graduate outcomes whilst placing student voice at the heart of the Community. This year’s results in the Sunday Times are a fantastic commendation of this work.

“It is especially pleasing that in terms of student experience and teaching, we are leading the way for London universities. Our unrelenting focus on ensuring our students lead fulfilling lives both when they are studying with us and beyond, has been recognised by this result.”

Earlier in 2017, St Mary’s also received the Silver award in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), with the TEF panel finding that “Most students achieve excellent outcomes. Very high proportions of students continue with their studies and progress to employment or further study, with highly skilled employment being particularly notable.”
