Criminology and Sociology students at St Mary’s University, Twickenham were treated to an evening with Author and Journalist Gary Younge at The Exchange theatre.

Gary spoke to those in attendance at the St Mary’s-owned building about his recently published book Another Day in the Death of America which gives a powerful account of 10 young innocent lives which were taken away by guns.

The Guardian columnist delivered a moving narrative about the young people and their families while also giving his views on the current state of American society, politics and its gun culture.

The members of the University’s newly-formed Criminology and Sociology Society (CSY) got to personally meet with Gary and ask him questions during a Q&A session.

Programme Director for Criminology and Sociology at St Mary’s Neena Samota said, “It was a wonderful and eye-opening evening for everyone involved and it was great that our new CSY got a chance to interact with Gary who gave such an illuminating talk.

“We always aim to give our students opportunities like this one and I know from speaking to those who attended that they found it a very interesting and enjoyable evening.”
