Great Performances from St Mary’s Athletes and Alumni at Under 23s European Championships

Athletes and Alumni from St Mary’s University, Twickenham earned personal bests and medals at the Under 23s European Athletics Championships in Tallinn, Estonia last weekend.

Athletes and Alumni from St Mary’s University, Twickenham earned personal bests and medals competing for Team GB at the Under 23s European Athletics Championships in Tallinn, Estonia last weekend.

In the Men’s 800m, current student Thomas Randolph made the final and ran a personal best of 1:46.41 to win the bronze medal. In the Men’s 200m, current student Shemar Boldizsar finished sixth with a time of 20.84. 

Elsewhere, in the Women’s 5000m, alumna Izzy Fry completed the race in 16:01.6 to finish eighth. Current student Destiny Ogali also competed at the championships, reaching the final of the Men's 4 x 100m relay.

Head of Sport St Mary’s, Andrew Reid-Smith said “Congratulations to all the athletes for making the European Championships. Tom and his Coach Craig Winrow targeted this Championships, and to make the final, run a PB and win a medal in your first GB vest, was a really outstanding performance”.
