Open-day

If you are interested in applying to St Mary's, the best way to find out about student life is to join us for one of our regular Open Days. To make the most out of your visit, we've shared our top tips here.

1. Prepare questions

Before you visit us, we recommend writing down any questions you have. These can be anything from course content to how we can support you through your studies.

Once you have your questions, visit the University website where you will find lots of information that might answer some of your questions for you.

2. Listen to UniCast

On our podcast, we have an episode dedicated to open days. Join Meg and Nancy as they explore the campus and chat to student ambassadors. Listen now to find out what to expect during your visit.

Listen to the episode online.

3. Take a campus tour

We recommend taking a campus tour because it will allow you to see our halls of residence and will give you the opportunity to ask our student ambassadors about what life on campus is like.

4. Talk to other attendees

Open days are a great networking opportunity. When you’re in a subject taster session have a chat with other people – maybe go for a coffee together afterwards you never know, if you all decide to come to St Mary’s you’ll have friends straightaway.

5. Go to a Student Services talk

As well as subject taster sessions, our open days include talks from Accommodation, Fees and Wellbeing. These talks are helpful as they provide you with information on the types of support that are available such as scholarships, in-class support, and mental health support.

6. Go off on your own

After you have finished all the activities, why not experience day-to-day campus life by having lunch in the cafe or having a coffee in the Dolché Vita. It’s a great way to gain a feel for the University and campus life.

7. Visit the local area

While you’re here why not take some time to familiarise yourself with the local area. St Mary’s is a short walk to Teddington, recently rated the best place to live in London, or a bus ride away from Kingston where you will find the local shopping centre, cinema as well as a range of restaurants.

On the doorstep, there are some beautiful parks and gardens such as York House Gardens that are great for walks and picnics.
