Students on the Chelsea Coaching and Development Programme at St Mary's University, Twickenham have been given the opportunity to complete industry qualifications through a partnership with the Professional Football Scouts Association (PFSA).

The PFSA offer a range of football courses in the areas of Performance Analysis, Data Analysis, Talent ID and Scouting which allows participants to network with industry-leading practitioners.

Through this collaboration, students have undertaken their Level 1 in Performance Analysis within specific modules on their FdSc and BSc Chelsea Coaching and Development Course.

At the forefront of this is Senior Lecturer in Performance Analysis, Patrick Oxenham, who said of the partnership, “It has been great to partner with an established industry organisation which provides a wide range of education and links to applied practice. Embedding these qualifications within my modules has provided our students with the opportunity to undertake additional professional development to help support them on placement, with skill development and enhance their employability upon graduation. We recognise as a programme that being able to offer additional experiences to our students is vital in their development with us”

Course Lead for the programme, Tom Howard was also delighted, adding, “It is fantastic that our students will now benefit from industry recognised performance analysis and scouting courses provided by the PFSA. One of the key principles of our delivery is for our students to learn valuable and employable skills alongside their education. A huge thank you to Patrick for designing his modules with this in mind and we very much look forward to the development of Chelsea students in the field of PA”
