St Mary’s Students Selected for National and Regional Teams

A number of students from St Mary’s University, Twickenham have been selected to represent their national and regional university teams in a range of sports.

A number of students from St Mary’s University, Twickenham have been selected to represent their national and regional university teams in a range of sports.

Two members of the Women’s Hockey Team, Maisie Davidson, the Club President, and Kiera Dawes, Captain, have been selected to represent their England Universities Squad. The St Mary’s Women’s Hockey Team compete in the South League Tier 1. Maisie and Kiera will compete in fixtures against a range of England Teams, including the Army and Colleges teams, a home nations tournament, and a team tour in Barcelona.

From the Men’s Lacrosse Team, Captain and Vice-Captain Jack Casebourne and Sam Haswell have been selected to represent the South-Eastern England Universities Squad. Jack and Sam will be competing in the University Bowl in Loughborough to trial for the England Universities Squad.

Five members of the Men’s Rugby League team have been selected to represent the South-Eastern England Universities Squad. Josh Stuttle, Dom Aston, Sam Winney, Harry Richard, and Marcus Clarke have all been selected.

Speaking of the selections, Club Development Officer Jen Fairfield said, “We are extremely proud of the work we do at Sports St Mary’s and to see so many students making those squads is fantastic. Having such a broad range of sports represented is a reflection of the diverse and high-quality programme we have on offer.”
