Initial mentor training is given one-to-one at the start of a placement by a Link Tutor. This M&QA initial meeting will take place on zoom, and include an introduction to supporting a St Mary's trainee and the use of Abyasa.
Additional support is given throughout the academic year through a combination of online meetings, short videos and themed guidance for mentors and PCMs.

CCF Learn How To statements document
The 'CCF Learn How To statements' document above outlines all 'Learn how to...' statements from the Core Content Framework, listed by section. The statements are further categorised according to who is primarily responsible for leading the development of the skill:
- Receive effective mentoring - led by the Mentor
- Analysis and Observation - led by Mentor and/or Trainee
- Practice - led by Trainee
The highlighted statements are those statements that trainees have received / will receive an initial introduction to via Professional Studies Workshops. These will of course require further development during their school experience, and it is our intention that this document will assist mentors and trainees when identifying weekly targets during their school practice.
To effectively support the development of trainees, St Mary's University encourages trainees to focus on sections 1 to 4 during the Foundation Phase, and sections 5 to 8 during Development.
