What is the Journalism Diversity Fund?
Editors recognise that it's vital that journalists reporting the news reflect the communities they serve, so this fund has been set up by those in the industry who want to join together to support the training of journalists from ethnically and socially diverse backgrounds.
The fund is aimed at people without the financial means to attend NCTJ training courses. Courses are run at universities, colleges and private training providers across the UK. Applicants can be sixth formers, undergraduates, mature students or professionals looking for a career change, but all will need to demonstrate a genuine commitment to journalism and the potential to be successful.
Bursaries are on offer for those with the potential to succeed in one of the most exciting and rewarding careers around. In 2014, Neil Kingston became our first recipient of the Journalism Diversity Fund.
