‘Laudato Si’ is one of the most important Papal Encyclicals in recent times.
A clarion call for Christians to respond to Environmental concerns, it was issued by Pope Francis in 2015 and immediately led to a Conference held here at St Mary’s in November of that year.
Since then, CERRL members have responded in distinct ways but particularly at the interface with Schools. This is exemplified by CERRL links with the Guardians of Creation project led by Roland Daw here at St Mary’s as well as Visiting Professor Simon Uttley’s work based at Blessed Hugh Farringdon in Reading.
Meanwhile, CERRLS’s most most recent appointment, Ruth Walbank, is pioneering a project designed to develop a team of Laudato Si’ champions across schools in Manchester.
With the recent COP26 gathering in Glasgow fresh in our minds, CERRL will be providing delegates for a Conference of Catholic Universities in Rome on the topic of Ecology in March. Watch this space for further information.
