Current areas of research being undertaken at St Mary’s are:
Health and Wellbeing
This is an interdisciplinary research area covering physical and spiritual well-being. Researchers involved in this research come from the Female Health and Well-Being research cluster in Sport, Health and Applied Science and the Centre for Initiatives in Spirituality and Reconciliation in Education, Theology and Leadership.
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking
The new Centre for the Study of Modern Slavery opened in 2016 working with government departments to identify knowledge gaps, generating empirical evidence to make the response more targeted, and generate better results for those subject to slavery and trafficking.
Religion and Society
The new Benedict XVI Centre for Religion and Society, which opened at St Mary’s in 2015, draws together existing strands of research on campus, while fostering new projects in collaboration with external partners, both individual and institutional.
