The French Advanced course is designed for confident French speakers who want to participate in lively, engaging conversations on a wide variety of topics in French.
Please note: this course is not suitable for international students requiring a short term student visitor visa.
Dates and Times
This course will run every Wednesday from 1.00pm - 2.00pm between the following dates:
- Wednesday 25th September 2019 - Wednesday 29th January 2020
- Wednesday 5th February 2020 - Wednesday 24th June 2020
The full cost is £150. The deposit is £50.
Whilst enrolled upon the course, you will discuss a range of themes and issues drawn from culture, and topical news, including:
- The Francophone world
- French culture (food, film, books, business etc.)
- Famous French figures
- Languages and identity

Optional assessments take place every three weeks and you will receive a certificate listing topics studied and marks achieved in each of the assessments at the end of the course.
You are required to be confident at engaging in conversation, and have approximately A-Level French or above.
All participants must be over 18 years of age to enrol.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of attendance, issued by St Mary’s University.
Undergraduates, postgraduates and staff at St Mary’s receive a 10% discount.
