As Chief Executive Officer of the Students’ Union, Catherine leads the operational team and strategic development of the Students’ Union, whilst supporting and working alongside the three elected Student Leaders. As the CEO of SMSU, Catherine also works collaboratively with the University to amplify the student voice and is a member of a variety of strategic boards.
Catherine obtained a BA(Hons) in English Literature from the University of Portsmouth before subsequently spending two years there as a Sabbatical Officer, firstly as the Vice President Sport and then as the Students' Union President. Following this she worked as a manager in the leisure industry before returning to the higher education sector as the Student Voice Coordinator at Canterbury Christ Church Students’ Union.
Catherine joined St Mary’s University in 2017, initially as the Student Engagement and Retention Officer in the CTESS department, working on a number of projects to improve the student experience. In February 2019 Catherine took her current role as the Students’ Union Chief Executive Officer and since then has also completed an MA Social Justice and Education degree at the UCL Institute of Education. Catherine is extremely passionate about equality and inclusion in higher education, and developing and ensuring equitable student experiences for all.
