Merlin is a Professor at St Mary’s, focusing on Marketing and Strategy, having begun his working life lecturing in marketing and economics, moving then into industry and most recently working with both universities and corporate clients.
In addition to his teaching and research commitments at St Mary’s, Merlin is a Visiting Professor at Oxford Brookes and Portsmouth Universities and is on the editorial boards of several academic journals. He has published over 100 academic articles and 30 books and many trade press articles. And is an active researcher, focusing on education and business.
Listed by the UK’s Chartered Institute of Marketing as one of the world’s top 50 marketing thinkers and nominated as one of the 20 most influential people in the direct marketing industry by Precision Marketing, he has had significant influence on the development and growth of e-commerce and the Internet in the UK.
